At Kyla, we are deeply devoted to getting the details right. Follow along our decision making for our remote control, textile chord, product packaging and logo!

When designing our remote control, we had a clear vision in mind. Brushed steel looks naturally raw and feels heavy in hand while being resilient to wear. We had Kyla and our icon subtly engraved at the base on either side. Reaching the right touch to the crowning plastic panel took some time– we want it to be the tactile link between remote and fan. We designed our buttons to make them intuitive for easy use. To change batteries, the plastic panel is simply popped out of the steel case, quick and easy!

It is going the extra mile with the details that makes a product stand out. Our textile chord is a perfect example of this. It is soft to the touch and adds an additional layer of protection to the wires inside. It is nicely integrated with the plug at one end and subtly snuck into the base of the fan from beneath. Its tightly fitted stitches makes a boring necessity a highlight of our product!

We believe in the unboxing experience. Not only does it give our customers a fun and exciting time when first receiving a Kyla, it also exhibits and exposes all the details which could otherwise have been tucked away under plastic and paper. We use a simple molded pulp skeleton in which the fan sits. On the upper half of the molded pulp, there is place for manual and warranty card packed in a discrete envelope. We have sought to eliminate excesses and use as few parts as possible. The fan base and remote control are packed in non-woven bags to avoid wear on delivery.

The logo is one of the most important features of any product– it is the primary exhibition of the brand and adds a dimension to the design. We had long discussions about the placement, size and material of the logo, but decided on a small, sophisticated metallic logo. It is discrete yet powerful and rhymes with the metallic inner ring of the mouthpiece.
